  • Here’s why you should sell a controversial product online and why it works!

My business sells Italian lucky charms and amulets. The famous cornicello aka the Italian horn! In Italy, they look like a chilli but they’re actually a bull’s horn and you see it a lot in the traditional red colour hence why people call them a chilli!

Jewellery is not normally controversial. But our jewellery sometimes stirs some serious emotions in people!

Why? It’s the combinations we combine our pendants with.

Sometimes we will pair a cornicello and a Madonna pendant. Yes, sometimes we mix superstition and religion. Oooh, I know so dangerous!

Controversial? Yes. They are also our most popular sets and bestsellers!

I personally don’t have a problem combining a little Italian superstition with religious medals.

Some people disagree with us but here’s why I think it works:

    • Starts a conversation. Sometimes good and bad but increases our engagement at the end of the day. Which includes tags and comments.
    • Differentiates ourselves from everyone else. We’re mixing modern with tradition.
    • Breaking down those cultural and traditional barriers. Our younger audience loves our new twist and take on the old ways.
    • Brand awareness. I believe our brand is becoming more well-known and getting noticed as a result of our controversial pieces.
    • Sales boost. People want to be different with their accessories. They also want that extra boost of luck and protection they believe they will get.

In a sea of products and marketers where everything has been done. What product can you sell that you can put a little controversial twist on?

  • The Entrepreneurs secret life: What you see versus what you don’t see

There is so much content, truth and lies out there about being entrepreneur.

The passive income freedom propaganda is a well-oiled machine on social media.

The truth is an entrepreneur has two lives. The life you see and the life you don’t see.

Like everything in life, business has two sides and it’s not all rainbows and fairytales.

After many years of being all in and working full-time in eCommerce this is what you see versus what you don’t see:

    What you see:

    • High cash months
    • Celebrations
    • Hitting big goals
    • Freedom / Travel
    • Business trips overseas
    • Schedule Flexibility
    • Celebrity endorsements and recognition
    • Customer praise
    • Creativity – new products, content
    • Confidence
    • Dreams coming true

    What you don’t see:

    • Low cash months, cant pay expenses
    • Debt
    • Copycat businesses
    • Customer complaints
    • Influencers not promoting products as planned
    • Chargebacks
    • Shipping problems
    • Inventory management failures
    • Arguments and disagreements with business partner
    • Samples not working out
    • Pressure to keep creating content
    • Self-doubt
    • Lack of motivation
    • Stress & Loneliness
    • Fear of a do-over / High Risk
    • Never-ending list of things to do
    • Feelings of failure

The entrepreneur’s journey is full of ups and downs. Your two lives live side-by-side and you know the truth!

  • WHY MOST PEOPLE FAIL IN ECOMMERCE

Two years of being a full-time entrepreneur in e-commerce have taught me a few things.

Watching other budding entrepreneurs struggle – I can see where they are going wrong.

Firstly, my business Bella Luck Charms is probably my sixth website and 3rd eCommerce business. I have tried and failed a lot over the years.

    Here we go…

    Zero budget = Zero growth

I see this all the time. Everyone wants to have a six-figure business and think they can get there by spending no money.

    eComm is pay-to-play.

You can’t sustain or grow a ‘real’ and consistent business purely by posting one reel a day or sending free gifts to influencers. You are basically depending on ‘fluking it’ or going viral.

Content Compliments and grows a business only marginally. Every social media platform wants you to advertise so the game is rigged against you.

The same goes for SEO. Free/Organic traffic will only get you so far.

    Solution

I know you don’t want to spend any money but if you want a serious business and an income — paid advertising is a must.

You need retargeting ads to close the deal when someone has visited and not purchased anything and you need consistent ads bringing new business in the door.

With a paid advertising strategy you will get an overflow of people following you on your socials. Your ad pops up and they check out your profile and a percentage of people will follow you.

With this mix of traffic, you will start building your email list too.

    Invest in Professional Photography

I see this mistake all the time.

    Sell the fantasy.

Make your product look like a million dollars with professional pictures that show all the little details.

Mindless scrolling kills imagination. Never assume customers will just ‘imagine’ your product on them.

    Do the work for them.

Show them the dream. Put together a look for them. Suggest, stack and place. Show them how it’s done.

If you do these two things you will be so far ahead of the competition and on your way to a full-time income. No one can stop you!

  • Create or Die If You Want To Succeed In The eCommerce Game

Content is king and creating new products is the queen.

Basically to succeed in e-commerce you need to be continually in creation mode.

The king says entertain the masses. The queen says give them new products.

The number one driving force of my business has been creating content. It’s a cliché but true. If you’re not in creation mode you’re in death mode.

We try to entertain and dazzle our audience while attracting new customers into the funnel.

We feed them professional photography, stories, and posts every day. We create new products and collections weekly. Launching new themed products and announcing restocks.

We’re always planning ahead for fresh story ideas or special events like the 4th of July or an upcoming sale, promotion, or holiday.

We write blog posts that answer people’s questions to drive organic traffic to our site. We then repurpose all our content for socials to our email list.

The advantage of constantly being in creation mode is we’re always pivoting and coming up with new ideas. We get better at everything every day because we are constantly in execution mode.

Everything is evolving including your business and brand and the only way for you to survive and thrive is to be constantly creating.

What are you going to create today?
